Every person who can send an SOS or register as a volunteer must verify their real identity on sign-up:

  • โœ… Only real, unique humans receive the green "ID verified" badge.

The SOS button is the heart of Mari Help Me. By default you hold it for three seconds โ€” the app then takes photos from both cameras alternately, records short voice clips, captures your live GPS coordinates and sends everything to the channels you enabled in Settings. In parallel it dials 112 if Call police is on. You can change how the button activates in Settings โ†’ SOS button settings. Available activation modes (combine any you like): Single tap โ€” one quick press fires the SOS immediately, useful in a sudden attack when you cannot hold the screen. Press & hold 2 seconds โ€” prevents accidental triggers in your pocket. Voice โ€” say the wake phrase "Mari help me" and the app reacts even when locked (beta). Shake โ€” strike the phone hard or shake it three times (beta). Hardware button โ€” assign volume-up or power triple-press in the native app. You also pick what happens after activation: call Mom, call Dad, call an extra trusted contact, call police 112, send photos from both cameras, send live GPS, record short voice clips, and turn on voice-guided way home. Every action is a separate switch โ€” turn off anything you don't want.

The kids and baby SOS button uses its own separate settings so parents can fine-tune what is safe for their child. Open Settings, switch user mode to Kids or Baby, then expand 'SOS button settings for Kids & Baby'. Activation modes for kids default to: single tap on the big Mari Help button, hold two seconds in baby mode to prevent random triggers, voice wake word, and shake detection so the phone reacts even when it falls. After activation the app will: call Mom, call Dad, optionally an extra trusted contact, call police, send photos from front and back cameras, send live GPS, and record short voice clips so parents hear what is happening. The most important parent choice is the last switch โ€” Voice-guided way home. When it is ON, the app speaks turn-by-turn directions in the child's language and shows the route. When it is OFF, the app instead tells the child "Stop and stay! Hide in a safe place. I'm calling mom and the police." โ€” which is much safer for very young kids near traffic, where being guided through streets could put them in front of a car. Pick the option that fits your child's age and your neighbourhood.
